BEST LANGUAGE APP PERIOD. I am an intermediate speaker of German who has been away from the classroom for years. I have been looking for something that was immersive, and not just memorization and flashcards. Many apps out there are just too basic, and make you feel like you know more than you actually do. This app is all REAL CONTENT. Real you tube videos and real conversations. You are in control of what gets added to your list of what to focus on. If you truly want to learn, go no further.

The app is not worth for the money you invest. Once your subscription ends, you won't be able to play with the words your have studied and paid for. For instance, you pay one year subscription and when it's due, goodbye to all vocabulary quizzes, flashcards and examples. Your words are still there, but you can't do much. I don't expect to be a free app, but for the content I've paid for, I want the full functionality active. I believe it's a legit request for a not cheap subscription.

Update: The free subscription, after trial, is absolutely, completely worthless. The app is still way overpriced!!! The app is great, but the price is just far too high per month. It is slightly better than a more well known competitor, duolin**, and the addition of the YouTube videos are great, but it's not enough to cost almost 3x as much! If they cut the price in half, it would be 5 stars and a keeper..I just can't justify the price premium for a half star advantage.

This app has a ton of potential. My biggest complaint is the flashcards/quiz system. I feel like they shouldn't show a picture and context sentence with audio right away. It's too hard to use my memory to recall a word when they spit it out before I can put any thought into it. I'd like a definition and then have me type the word in, or a word given and a definition to type in. Maybe an example sentence/photo after a successful or failed entry. Or a way to customize flashcards all together.

Really easy to use. Makes learning a language fun and impactful. Would recommend! Update: I had to drop it down one star because not enough content is released to keep up with my pace of study. I've already listened to all of the intermediate and advanced videos available for a couple weeks now. I pay the $30/monthly premium, so I would like to see more videos/exercises! The app really is good overall. That's the one and only drawback. When is the next update coming with more material??

5 stars for the content, 3 to 4 stars for the price and 0 stars because you keep messing with already decent elements of the UI. New update broke the app completely and it remains frozen at startup. The UI is clean and neat. Stop playing around with it! Instead fix the important bugs (eg when you have to scroll back to the same position in the menu because you switch between difficulties as the app forgets that you had scrolled down)

There are certainly 100's of things I can rave about , such as pausing a video to look up a word just by moving the mouse , and I love the flashcards and tests it does. I don't like that you can't save sentences, and there is no speech practise. There are lots of videos, but still not enough. Some are pretty boring and lots are just childrens programmes. There's just not enough on what I'd like to learn, typical ones like directions, restaurants etc. 1 more thing: not good for beginners!

I really like the variety of videos. I have tried several apps and programs and spent a lot of money of books. A lot of programs are hard work, which is needed but where is the fun? I get easily bored with other applications, but never with FluentU. The variety of videos and various sources, gives me access to all types of accents. The videos are short and interesting as well. The team is also great and answers promptly. I find that this has helped me greatly in developing my vocabulary and ability to understand Spanish. It never feels like work. Overall, Great team great app! Nicole

This app potentially could become one of the best learning apps on the market... but in a couple of years maybe, it is a lirtle bit laggy, the oveall interface can improve and for smartphones that have a large screen, it may be a little bit uncomfortable to see the caps on every video if there's no option to make them bigger, the app has so much potential, I would buy it, but maybe in a couple of months after a couple of updates will be a better choice. (I'll update this in review in the future)
