AMD FSR 3.1 has officially launched, with Nixxes Software integrating it into six different video games. This new version promises enhanced performance via frame generation, improved temporal stability, reduced jitter, and better detail preservation. Temporal stability specifically helps to minimize shimmering and flickering, improve ghosting reduction, and enable players to run games at lower resolutions. Additionally, AMD has pledged continued developer support with an upgradable FSR API and a decoupled frame generation technology that is compatible with other upscaling solutions.
AMD FSR 3.1 has officially launched, and the acclaimed PlayStation title "Ghost of Tsushima" is among the six games that support it. Thanks to Nixxes Software, AMD FSR 3.1 will also be available in "God of War: Ragnarok." Although AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3.1 was initially announced in March, there was a brief wait for the release of this advanced frame generation and upscaling technology.
Fortunately, the long-awaited moment has arrived as AMD FSR 3.1 is now available. Adding to the excitement, Nixxes Software, known for its expertise in porting PlayStation games to PC, has chosen to integrate this technology into a total of six video games.
Specifically, AMD FSR 3.1 will be implemented in Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut, Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition, Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and later, starting September 19, 2024, in God of War Ragnarok.
As a reminder, AMD FSR 3.1 enhances performance by generating additional frames per second (FPS). Moreover, compared to FSR 3, FSR 3.1 provides enhanced temporal stability, reduced jitter, improved ghosting reduction, and better preservation of details.
AMD FSR 3.1 introduces a feature known as temporal stability, which reduces shimmering, flickering, and enhances ghosting reduction. These improvements enable players to run games at lower resolutions while still being able to stretch the image to fit the screen size, akin to Nvidia’s DLSS 2.
AMD reaffirmed its dedication to supporting developers, emphasizing compatibility with the Xbox Game Development Kit (GDK) and Vulkan. They also introduced an upgradable FSR API, providing developers seamless access to future FSR iterations.
