The new Shadow of the Erdtree DLC for Elden Ring offers exciting new content, including a mod that swaps Spirit Ash summons for actual bosses like Messmer the Impaler and Divine Beast Dancing Lion, providing players with tough new challenges to overcome. While modders continue to enhance the Elden Ring experience with unique mods, FromSoftware has confirmed that there are no plans for future expansions beyond the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, which introduces new weapons, items, NPCs, and more for players to enjoy.

A new mod fundamentally shakes things up in Elden Ring's new Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, replacing Spirit Ash summons with actual bosses featured in the DLC. This new mod not only seeks to make fights more chaotic but also allows players to settle the score with some of Elden Ring's toughest enemies yet.

Shadow of the Erdtree was released earlier this summer, delivering an incredible amount of new content for both new and returning Elden Ring players to sink their teeth into. Shadow of the Erdtree adds to the base Elden Ring experience in a variety of ways, providing players with exciting new weapons, items, NPCs, and, of course, bosses. Shadow of the Erdtree packs a significant punch in this department, challenging players with what may be considered to be the hardest fights developer FromSoftware has ever designed. Shadow of the Erdtree does give players several tools to help make some of these fights easier, though the spike in difficulty will surely be a sticking point for some.
A total of 11 bosses are included in this new mod from FlippantTunic22 on Nexus Mods. The mod focuses on Elden Ring's Spirit Ash abilities, swapping the base game summons with bosses featured in Shadow of the Erdtree. These include enemies like Messmer the Impaler as well as Divine Beast Dancing Lion, just to name a few. The mod also includes the massive Furnace Golem, making for a helpful yet hilariously large co-op partner.

More bosses are reportedly on the way for this new mod as well, as is a version that features bosses in the base Elden Ring game. FromSoftware's action RPG titles have long been a hotbed for modders, with Dark Souls receiving significant attention within the modding community. Mods for the original Dark Souls range from simple quality-of-life improvements to full-on game-changing tweaks, like transforming the action RPG into a roguelike.

Since its release in 2022, Elden Ring has received significant attention from modders, giving players the ability to customize their experience to their liking. However, Shadow of the Erdtree appears to be the end of the road for Elden Ring. Despite the incredibly positive reception to Shadow of the Erdtree, developers have stated there are no plans for future Elden Ring expansions. FromSoftware has reiterated how pleased it is with Shadow of the Erdtree and appreciates that players continue to enjoy both it and Elden Ring.
