LEGO Horizon Adventures has officially gone gold, indicating that the game is set to launch on November 14. During June’s Summer Game Fest 2024 livestream, fans of the Horizon series were treated to an unexpected trailer showcasing LEGO versions of Aloy and her companions battling against plastic machines. This delightful title will be available on PlayStation 5 and PC, but in a surprising twist, it will also be released for the Nintendo Switch—marking the first time a Horizon game has appeared on Nintendo hardware.
In the lead-up to the November release of LEGO Horizon Adventures, developers Guerrilla Games and Studio Gobo have been actively sharing sneak peeks of what players can look forward to in this whimsical reimagining of Horizon Zero Dawn. Features include alternate costumes for Aloy and her friends, as well as a fully customizable hub world that players can shape to their liking. The game will also feature a LEGO-style combat system that allows players to dismantle robotic enemies by targeting specific weak points, a playful nod to the original series.
Additional details about the game’s file size and pre-order bonuses have also been revealed ahead of the November 14 launch. Guerrilla Games recently confirmed that the title is ready to ship. In a tweet, the developer announced the game’s gold status, accompanied by a charming video clip of Aloy collecting a golden LEGO piece and transforming into gold herself. For those unfamiliar with the term, a game going "gold" signifies that core development has been completed, and the title is now prepared for manufacturing and distribution to retailers.
While a LEGO adaptation of Horizon Zero Dawn may seem surprising, the concept originated from the real-life LEGO Tallneck set released in 2022. Following the success of this Horizon-themed building set, LEGO proposed the idea of creating a LEGO video game based on the franchise to Guerrilla Games, leading to the development of LEGO Horizon Adventures.
This upcoming game is just one of several Horizon-related projects in the works, as Guerrilla Games is also developing a live-service Horizon Online multiplayer game. Furthermore, a third mainline entry in the series seems likely given the way Horizon Forbidden West concluded. In the meantime, players can look forward to exploring the post-apocalyptic world of Horizon in a fresh and exciting way when LEGO Horizon Adventures launches on November 14.
