Metal Slug Tactics Release Date and Physical Edition Announced

Metal Slug Tactics is officially set to launch on November 5, 2024, and will also be available in a physical edition. Developed by Leikir Studio, this title marks the first tactical RPG entry in the beloved Metal Slug franchise.

Initially unveiled in June 2021, Metal Slug Tactics was expected to arrive in 2023. However, the release was postponed, and a June 2024 update provided a new window, indicating that the game would be available in Fall 2024, though no specific date was given at that time.

That uncertainty has now been resolved, as it has been confirmed that Metal Slug Tactics will officially launch on November 5, 2024. The game's publisher, Dotemu, has teased that more details about the physical release will be shared soon, much to the delight of collectors. Additionally, information regarding pre-orders and pricing is expected to be announced shortly.

Exciting Character Reveals for Metal Slug Tactics

The announcement of the release date was accompanied by a brand-new trailer, which not only confirmed the launch date but also introduced iconic characters from the Ikari Warriors series. Players will be able to utilize Clark Still, Ralf Jones, and Leona Heidern as playable reinforcements in Metal Slug Tactics.

For those unfamiliar with the series, Clark and Ralf originated in SNK's 1986 title Ikari Warriors, making their Metal Slug series debut in Metal Slug 6 in 2006. Leona joined the Ikari Warriors team in The King of Fighters '96 and made her first appearance in the Metal Slug series with Metal Slug XX in 2010.

These three characters will join Marco, Tarma, Eri, and Fiolina, bringing the current roster of playable characters to seven. However, fans will have the opportunity to "choose between nine iconic characters from the series" when assembling their teams, indicating that two additional reinforcements remain to be unveiled.

Speculation suggests that Nadia Cassel and Trevor Spacey, both characters from Metal Slug 4, will fill these final two slots. Their absence from the confirmed roster has raised expectations among fans, and it would be surprising if they did not make it into Metal Slug Tactics. Fortunately, turn-based game enthusiasts won’t have to wait long to find out, as the game's release is just around the corner.
