He stated that further DLC was "not on the table," as the studio was eager to "exercise new creative muscles" with projects like Fallout 4 and later, Starfield. He remarked, "Imagine if Skyrim had never been created, and we just kept reinventing Oblivion. What a crying shame that would be."

Not everyone at Bethesda shared this perspective. Nesmith acknowledged that some team members joined the studio specifically to work on fantasy games. Technical limitations on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 restricted the ability to add more expansions, as Skyrim was already "straining those limits." Bethesda found that they "physically could not add another DLC without breaking the game.” Fortunately, each Skyrim expansion introduced unique elements to the gameplay, enhancing the overall experience.
