The Olympic Update marks the largest expansion for Hades 2 since its Early Access debut, introducing a wealth of content including new deities, Boons, and features like the Crossroads Renovation system. The highlight of this update is undoubtedly the new Olympus zone, offering players access to the legendary home of the gods atop Mount Olympus.

Previously, players found themselves barred from this divine realm after a certain point in the game, but that’s no longer the case. This guide provides an overview of what to expect in Olympus and outlines the steps to reach this exciting new area in Hades 2.

Exploring the Olympus Zone

This overview is designed to be spoiler-free, but if you'd like to experience the Olympic Update content without any prior knowledge, feel free to skip this section and discover the new elements firsthand.

Upon entering Olympus, players will immediately notice a brand-new enemy type: Automatons, which are tasked with defending the realm from invaders like Chronos’ forces. Interestingly, these Automatons have turned against Melinoë, creating a challenging dynamic as she strives to ascend Mount Olympus.

Olympus also features two new minibosses, each equipped with unique attack patterns that require tailored strategies to defeat.

As you progress through this zone, you’ll eventually face a character teased in previous parts of Hades 2. This formidable Titan serves as the final boss of the Olympus zone, presenting a tough challenge that demands players memorize attack patterns and navigate massive areas of effect.

In addition to the intense combat, players may encounter two new Allies revealed in the Olympic Update trailer and patch notes. Furthermore, there are two new Familiars available for recruitment, which can be found not only in Olympus but also in other areas of the Underworld and the Surface.

Significantly, two returning gods from the original Hades game await you in Olympus. Both retain their core Boons but come with slightly modified mechanics, ensuring a familiar yet fresh experience for returning players.

How to Access Olympus in Hades 2

To reach Olympus, you need to take the Surface route after departing from the Crossroads. You will journey through the first zone, Ephyrea, and the second, Rift of Thessaly. At the conclusion of the Rift of Thessaly, you'll face Eris, who serves as a boss blocking your path.

Prior to the Olympic Update, players could only approach this boss without gaining access to Olympus. While the underground route was nearly complete, the surface route remained locked for the initial months of Early Access.

However, once you conquer Eris in Hades 2, you can continue on to unlock the Olympus zone. This marks the third zone of the Surface route. After defeating the final boss within Olympus, you’ll encounter another barrier preventing further progression to the Surface route's final area, which is expected to be added in a future update during Early Access.

It's anticipated that the Surface route may consist of four zones to parallel the Underworld route, although it could potentially include additional zones or a final segment that unlocks upon completing both paths. Players have much to anticipate as Hades 2 continues its development journey!
