When Zenless Zone Zero was first released, Proxies often overlooked Anomaly characters, focusing instead on stars like Ellen and Zhu Yuan. However, with the recent arrival of three new Anomaly agents—Jane Doe, Burnice, and Yanagi—players are beginning to realize the true potential of Anomaly-based teams.

Each Anomaly agent enhances the Anomaly effect in their own way, despite sharing a similar role. Burnice, for instance, can rapidly ignite enemies and intensify Fire Anomaly off-field. Meanwhile, Yanagi’s skill in activating Disorder allows her to work without disrupting other Anomaly debuffs, making her versatile. Her abilities are particularly effective when paired with teammates of the same attribute or other Anomaly specialists, meaning Yanagi’s team builds don't necessarily center around her Section 6 faction.

3. Yanagi + Koleda + Grace

This Yanagi team setup is ideal for players who may not have been lucky with the featured banners. Yanagi works effectively alongside Koleda and Grace, with Koleda focusing on stunning enemies and Grace quickly building up Shock, enabling Yanagi to trigger Disorder more easily.

This lineup capitalizes on Yanagi's role as a quick-swap DPS, mainly focused on triggering her special Disorder ability. Her EX Special Attack efficiently builds Anomaly, allowing her to stay off-field to recover energy. If Koleda isn’t available, Rina can be substituted from the standard banner for a similar effect.

2. Yanagi + Jane Doe + Rina

Rina extends the duration of Shock Anomaly, making her an ideal support for Electric Anomaly agents like Grace and Yanagi. However, her buff only lasts six seconds, requiring players to refresh it frequently.

In this Yanagi team build, the time constraint is less of an issue, as Yanagi and Jane Doe can be rotated to create Physical and Electric Anomaly effects at the same time. The ideal approach is to build Electric Anomaly with Yanagi’s Basic Attack, activate Shock Disorder using Jane, and then trigger Assault Disorder with Yanagi’s EX Special Attack. This setup enables players to leverage the strengths of Rina, Yanagi, and Jane Doe.

For players who don’t have Rina, Seth or Qingyi can fill the role. However, this change requires a different playstyle. Seth, for instance, is a Defense-Anomaly buffer, so he should be placed after the agent he’s supporting. If the focus is on Yanagi’s damage, the order should be Yanagi & Seth, while placing Jane Doe first (Jane Doe & Seth & Yanagi) if she’s the main focus.

If Yanagi teams up with Qingyi, the strategy will mirror the Yanagi + Koleda + Grace setup, where Qingyi handles enemy stunning while Jane and Yanagi capitalize on the multiplier effects of Stunned enemies.

1. Yanagi + Caesar + Burnice

Fans of the Sons of Calydon can use Yanagi with Caesar and Burnice as a powerful duo. Caesar’s support and buffing abilities make him a valuable addition to any Anomaly team, providing a simple yet effective ATK boost. Here, both Burnice and Yanagi serve as quick-swap DPS characters, with Yanagi taking more active time on the field.

For those without access to Caesar and Burnice, a budget-friendly alternative is Lucy + Piper. Lucy handles team buffs, while Piper provides a second Anomaly trigger, assisting in activating the Assault effect against foes.

By experimenting with these team compositions, players can find the best fit for maximizing Yanagi's unique abilities and leveraging the full power of Anomaly in Zenless Zone Zero.
