Sonic X Shadow Generations: Defeating the Biolizard

In Sonic X Shadow Generations, Shadow faces off against various enemies from his past as he ventures through White Space on a mission to defeat Black Doom. Among these returning foes is the formidable Biolizard—the prototype for the Ultimate Lifeform before Shadow’s creation, developed by Gerald Robotnik.

The Biolizard is a massive, genetically enhanced creature powered by volatile energy. Unlike its debut appearance, this version of the Biolizard is a much more intense adversary, living up to its title as the "Ultimate Lifeform Prototype." This guide will walk you through the Biolizard’s attack patterns and reveal strategies for each phase of the battle. At the end, we’ll also provide tips for tackling the fight in Hard Mode.

Defeating the Biolizard in Sonic X Shadow Generations

The Biolizard opens the battle by reusing attack patterns from Sonic Adventure 2, initially advancing toward Shadow with snapping bites, then shifting to sweeping attacks with its tail. Stay out of range by moving away from these attacks, using a quick boost if needed to create more distance.

After several cycles, the Biolizard will start launching energy orbs along the ground. When you see it preparing this attack, jump at the right time to evade each orb, and use your double jump to clear them effectively. Continue this strategy until the Biolizard becomes exhausted and lowers its head, allowing you to homing attack onto the rails that lead to its weak spot. Once there, mash the homing attack button to inflict as much damage as possible, triggering phase two.

Phase Two: Tentacle Wings

When the Biolizard's health drops by roughly a quarter, it will develop wings or tentacles. The primary attack in this phase involves it targeting a spot on the ground and slamming a wing there, creating a shockwave that ripples outwards. Leap over these shockwaves, and quickly homing attack the tentacle wings, continuing to strike until they burst.

Once a tentacle bursts, take advantage of the floating bubbles to ascend to the Biolizard's weak spot and attack. After the first successful attempt, the Biolizard will increase the number of shockwave attacks in a row before you can attack the wing again. Use this rinse-and-repeat method to continue depleting its health until it reaches the halfway mark.

To gain an advantage, use Chaos Control to freeze the Biolizard, giving you more time to land attacks on the tentacles. However, ensure the tentacle is within reach before activating Chaos Control to maximize damage.

Phase Three: Aggressive Jumps and Projectiles

When the Biolizard’s health drops below halfway, it begins using a jumping attack. It will leap into the air and create triple shockwaves upon landing. Position yourself close to, but not within, the targeted landing zone, and jump to avoid the shockwaves. Chaos Control can be particularly useful here to immobilize a tentacle and attack; otherwise, you’ll need to wait for opportunities to strike each tentacle as it pauses long enough for an attack.

After reducing the Biolizard’s health to one-quarter, it will latch onto a wall, marking the start of phase three. In this phase, the Biolizard bombards Shadow with homing projectiles, which must be intercepted using Doom Spears. Hold the button down to fire and immediately lock onto the next salvo of projectiles, as the Biolizard will try to overwhelm you with its relentless attacks.

Following this barrage, the Biolizard will launch a massive energy orb. Freeze it in place with Chaos Control, then use a homing attack to propel it back toward the Biolizard. After this, use the bubbles to reach its weak point, deal a final round of damage, and complete a quick-time event to achieve victory.

Biolizard Hard Mode Strategy

Hard Mode adds a layer of difficulty to this fight, primarily by eliminating all Rings from the arena, meaning that Shadow can be defeated in a single hit. This heightens the need for precision and caution when evading attacks. Fortunately, checkpoints activate when the Biolizard grows wings at 75% health and when it attaches to the wall at 25% health, so any missteps won’t require you to restart from the beginning.
