Sonic X Shadow Generations: Activating Hard Mode

In Sonic X Shadow Generations, Shadow’s journey pits him against his old adversary, the sinister Black Doom. This alien conqueror seeks to manipulate Shadow into becoming his ultimate warrior to lead the Black Arms. Shadow's story arc revolves around taking down Black Doom, with one of the main challenges being the twisted Doom Zones he creates along the way.

These Doom Zones not only test Shadow's strength but also serve as the entry points to Hard Mode. After reaching a pivotal story moment, players can transform Shadow’s White Space Hub World into a Doom Zone, unlocking new Hard Challenges and tougher versions of all the bosses.

Steps to Activate Doom Zone in Sonic X Shadow Generations

Once you unlock Shadow's final ability, the Doom Wing, Black Doom transforms White Space into a Doom Zone. This shift activates all Hard Challenges and Boss Fights, but after completing Radical Highway and defeating Neo Devil Doom, the Hub World will revert to its regular form. Fortunately, you can freely reactivate Doom Mode by interacting with the mini Black Moon in the center of White Space.

By activating this Black Moon, White Space will return to Doom Zone mode, enabling Shadow to tackle Hard Challenges and Boss Fights. Each Act offers one new challenge, and the Boss Portals lead to the Hard Mode versions of these fights. You can quickly access these challenges from the menu or find the Challenge Gates situated between existing ones for each Act.

What Changes with Doom Zone Mode?

In addition to Hard Challenges, Doom Zone mode also upgrades the Hub World’s Ring and Clock Collection challenges with harder versions, providing fresh rewards for players aiming for 100% completion. There are a total of 14 Hard Challenge Gates, three Hard Bosses, and updated versions of every Hub Challenge, offering plenty of content to master. For convenience, Collection Keys aren’t needed in Hard Challenge Stages, allowing players to focus purely on the action at hand.
