Niantic is experimenting with a significant update for Gyms in Pokémon GO, which will double the number of Raid battles available per Gym during the upcoming Mawile Raid Day. The developers have been making various adjustments to the game’s Raid system lately, with mixed reactions from the fan community.

Recently, Pokémon GO has been bustling with new events, including the annual Halloween celebration and the regional Festival of Lights, offering players plenty of exciting content to dive into. As the eagerly awaited Mawile Raid Day approaches in the Max Out season, Niantic has announced a change that could influence all future Raid Days.

In a recent tweet, Niantic shared thrilling news for Pokémon GO players: during Mawile Raid Day, the number of Raids at each Gym will be increased to two, set to occur on October 12th. This change will apply to select locations, though the developers have not specified which areas will participate, leading fans to speculate that it will primarily focus on smaller venues.

Players will have a three-hour window to participate in Raids during this special event. Typically, Raids at each Gym respawn every hour, but with the new update, players will have the opportunity to engage in two Raids per hour, resembling the format of the Raid Hour event.

While Niantic has not confirmed whether these Raids will occur every 25 or 30 minutes, many fans are hoping for the former, as this timing aligns with the Raid Hours. However, players have expressed frustration with the possibility of 25-minute intervals, as it could leave them with little to do while waiting between Raids.

Moreover, the lack of clarity regarding which locations will feature the new Raids has caused dissatisfaction among fans. Many believe that specifying locations in advance would help players better plan their strategies and maximize their participation during the event.
